The April 2004 Postie Races - Brightside

What a top day it was at the Postie bike races held on Saturday 3rd April 2004 at Brightside. The weather was great although the track was dry and dusty. The race was well attended with about 80 people on site and around 16 race-able postie bikes plus a few others.

After handing out the new t-shirts, a few preliminary races were held before the the main race, the " 2 hour Postie race". Right from the first race young Jeremy was flying and showed himself to be the one to beat. Fourteen bikes started the 2 hour at around 4:30PM and right away it was Team Jeremy blowing them away with Team Blayney Boys close behind. My bike with Team "Step-thru n wolf" onboard was back in about 6th.   Jeremy was out in front for a long time before the lead changed at the first rider change. Some bikes died, others broke chains, some conked out choked with dust. After about 1 and a bit hours, the Blayney Boys broke down then disappeared from the scene. This left Jeremy way out in front to claim victory over the Blayney Boys finally. Noel came 2nd and I don't know who came third.

After the race we had a big BBQ and the guest band "Step-thru n wolf" played a mixture of rock classics for us all night and we all had a great time.
